More reasons I want an iPad: Speakeasy Cocktails: Learn from the Modern Mixologists from Open Air Publishing on Vimeo. Music: An Appreciation, Brief - Roger Kamien from Inkling on Vimeo. The product pages - Speakeasy and Music: An Appreciation - have even more goodness. As a lover of books and technology, I’m fascinated with where this is going. Without an iPad (yet) I can’t...

I know well many of the mega-rich and, by and large, they are very decent people. They love America and appreciate the opportunity this country has given them. Many have joined the Giving Pledge, promising to give most of their wealth to philanthropy. Most wouldn’t mind being told to pay more in taxes as well, particularly when so many of their fellow citizens are truly suffering. Stop Coddling...

New, short work from Guy Maddin posted by the National Film Board of Canada in celebration of their seventieth anniversary. Of course, Maddin devises a characteristically surreal and distinctive allegory.  I found it over at the Criterion Collection, but there’s even more good stuff at the Night Mayor site at the NFB.

Boardwalk Empire. Gorgeous. Coming in the fall. I’m curious about just how much involvement Scorcese will continue to have after directing/producing the pilot. Marty is arguably our most relevant, longest lasting cinematic artist, so for him to invest his energies in television says a lot about how far the medium has advanced in the past ten years.

A subscription service for fresh men’s t-shirts, underwear, and socks. Should probably be a required service for more of us than would like to admit. Brilliant.

“Do I have your loyalty?”
merlin: Last night, I was reading some of the angry Amazon reviews of the “Coppola Restoration” of The Godfather trilogy. Hi-larious. Films shot on film are the new black & white. Welcome to the generation that equates grain with suck.

Getting Started
I’d posted this over a year ago when I created this blog out of Tumblr curiosity. Today, it’s a whole lot more relevant than it was then. At the time I had a pretty sweet day job and was just starting an independent video production side gig. Well, that’s all changed now. I may write more about the whole situation later, but for now let’s just say I have the chance to do...
